HVAC
A new 2 1/2-story skilled nursing building in Colorado Springs that houses residents, kitchen, lounges, conference rooms, offices, physical therapy/Gym and a bathroom group, totaling approximately 85,000 SF. There is a basement level that covering approximately half the building, that houses the Mechanical rooms.
Our plans incorporated the requirements set forth in the AIA Guidelines for Design and Construction of Healthcare Facilities: Sect 8 – Nursing Facilities. This project was design assist with the GC and was HUD-financed.
Proposed HVAC system for the new independent living building was a water source heat pump with cooling towers and central boilers. Individual residential controls were anticipated and designed. Alternative HVAC system would have been individual PTAC and split furnaces for the common areas. Heat/pre-cooling energy recovery systems for ventilation air was designed. We provided an SD to have owners input prior to moving forward with any HVAC options.
