Brett graduated from the University of Kansas in 2003 where he studied architectural engineering with an emphasis on power systems and lighting design. He began his career at a respected firm in San Francisco, CA and became a licensed Professional Engineer in 2006. Brett relocated to Colorado in 2010 and joined Given & Associates as a Project Manager and Lead Electrical Engineer. He advanced to Associate Principal in 2017, and became Principal in 2022.
Brett enjoys cycling, hiking, snowboarding, and exploring the mountains of Colorado with his wife and two daughters. He also enjoys traveling abroad to appreciate other cultures. Brett is a diehard Kansas Jayhawks and Denver Broncos fan, and spends many Sundays at Mile High Stadium cheering on the Orange and Blue.
Responsibilities
Brett is a Principal and the Lead Electrical Engineer at Given. His main responsibilities include development and planning for complex projects, quality control, mentoring, and team management. Brett oversees electrical designs through construction, prepares proposals and contracts, cultivates and facilitates client relationships, and manages day to day operations of the electrical department.
Experience
Brett has over 20 years of Electrical Design experience in Assisted Living, Multi-Family, Residential, Low-Income Housing, Workforce Housing, Student Housing, Higher Education, Office, Medical, Retail, Pharmaceutical, Manufacturing and Data Centers. He also has extensive design expertise in Colorado’s booming Hospitality Industry with Hotels, Restaurants, Breweries and other retail tenants. Brett’s LEED™ AP status allows him to focus on Sustainability in design.
